Making Art

Beautiful things happen when differently-abled students have the kind of adaptive supplies that allow them to create art with a peer. The Adaptive Art Mentorship course at Bexley Middle School provides art and leisure activities for students with special needs or disabilities, with support from a mentor peer their own age.

Said one peer mentor,  “The partnership has benefited me because no matter what mood I am in that day, My peer is there and brings up my mood and makes me smile. I also have learned a lot from working with him and have had a lot of fun. I think it has benefited my peer because throughout our time together I have seen him focus more and hold longer conversations. He also considers me one of his friends which makes me smile and feel like we are connected.”
