Model Classroom Technology Grant
The Bexley Education Foundation’s Board of Governors approved $31,750 in grant awards at its November 20th Meeting. A $30,000 grant will fund the creation of five model classrooms (one at each school building) that will be equipped with audio/visual enhancements and new and contemporary technology to enhance learning and instruction. Foundation Board Member, Dr. Lori Gerstein Ramsey, who also serves on the School District’s Technology Committee said of the project, “This is a transformative initiative for our schools. It’s not just about upgrading technology – it's about revolutionizing the learning experience for Bexley students across grade levels and subject areas. These model classrooms will inspire teachers, engage students in new and innovative ways, and lay the groundwork for classrooms in the future.”
Brad Pettit, Director of Technology for the School District, along with Bob Keep, Technology Coach, presented the project to the Foundation Board. Upon learning of the grant award Pettit expressed his excitement noting that "This grant will be an investment into incredible experiences for our students. Outfitting classrooms with the best contemporary resources possible expands teacher empowerment and their ability to create unique experiences in instruction. We're so appreciative of the Foundation and their commitment to supporting the engagement, enrichment, and learning of our students." Keep noted that, "This grant will be a cornerstone of each Bexley student's classroom experience. It will allow us to equip our classrooms with the technology necessary for robust and modern instruction. It will allow our teachers to create even more engaging and impactful lessons."
Next steps in implementing the model classrooms project are to work with principals and teaching staff to choose classrooms, ordering and installing demonstration equipment and creating the process for student and staff feedback.
