The Gift of Talent

Whenever Noah Abrams, ‘96 finds himself in Columbus, he always finds time to go to Rubino’s. It’s not just the pizza that keeps him coming back but the total Rubino’s experience. The Los Angeles based writer, director, photographer and podcaster, who has spent a majority of his life either in front of or behind a camera, is a keen observer of human nature. His observations of the customer interactions at Rubino’s and his many conversations with Jim Marchese and his daughter Julie, especially during the COVID pandemic, inspired him to want to do something that would celebrate this special place in his hometown.

That something became a script for a documentary written and directed by Abrams. The entire documentary was filmed at Rubino’s during the week of July 4, 2024.

Prior to the premier of JIM: A Rubino’s Pizza Short Documentary at The Drexel Theater on November 26, Abrams visited with BHS students interested in careers in photography, filmmaking and other artistic pursuits. Abrams plans to enter the short documentary in film festivals across the country but eventually intends "to have it seen by as many people as possible." (Updated 12/10/24)
