Students Love Grantmaking

Bexley High School students in the Foundation’s Youth Philanthropy Program, funded by our Charlene Morgan Emerging Leaders Endowment, spent this past fall learning from Columbus area nonprofit leaders. They used that knowledge to make a total of $5,000 in grant awards to support needs identified by staff and students within the high school.

2024 Youth Philanthropy Grants

  • $2,500 to purchase a mirrorless camera for The Torch in order for Torch staff to photograph a variety of student events silently so as not to disturb the events.

  • $665 to support the Life Skills Mentorship Class at the high school. The grant will allow for the purchase of adaptive physical education equipment to assist students with specific needs.

  • $560 to improve the high school morning news and announcement experience. The grant will be used to purchase audio and video equipment.

  • $450 to add to the mural in the “math hallway “ on the third floor of the high school. The grant will fund the addition of two more panels created by student artists to demonstrate the beauty and connection between art and math.

  • $450 to help spread awareness and help grow membership in the high school’s Women in Stem Club. The grant will provide materials for fun, hands on experiments during club meetings.

  • $375 to establish a vibrant high school classroom library of Spanish language books to enrich instruction and promote language acquisition.
