Alex Marsh and Katie Walker Marsh, Class of 2010

Katie, Alex, Harper and Summit

Alex Marsh and Katie Walker have known each other for almost as long as they can remember. They  met in Kindergarten in Mrs.Cover’s class at Maryland Elementary School and the next year spent first grade with Miss Blossom. At that time their families, who were living on Stanwood and Remington Roads, started to build a friendship that continues to this day. They even had a joint birthday party at the Bexley Pool (see photo) since their birthdays are the same week.

From Maryland through middle school Alex and Katie had many of the same teachers and the same friends. In high school, they were part of the same “friend group,” but never dated.  Alex ran cross country and track, and was on the swim team. Katie ran track and played on the field hockey team and was an editor for the Bexleo, which influenced her decision to study graphic design in college.

The summer before their senior year of college, in June 2013, Alex invited Katie to join him at the Memorial Golf Tournament. After spending the day together, Katie realized that it was more than hanging out and they started spending more time together visiting each other nine times during their senior year.  Kate was studying graphic design and business at Clemson and Alex was at Ohio State where he majored in entrepreneurship.

Eventually, Katie moved back to Bexley and the two wed in 2019 to the delight of their families. Since that time they have put down roots in the community. Katie opened Be Well, a wellness studio offering yoga, strength, reiki and nutrition classes located on Bexley’s Main Street. Alex works for The Robert Weiler Company as a commercial real estate agent specializing in private equity investments. He serves as Secretary of the Bexley Education Foundation Board and is active with several other community boards.

In 2023 Katie and Alex grew their family with the addition of daughter Harper and this June will celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary. They are hopeful that Harper will have the same great experience growing up in Bexley as they both did. “We’re excited that Harper will be the 5th generation of the Marsh family to attend the Bexley Schools (Alex’s dad Brian graduated in 1983, his grandfather Rick in 1954 and his great-grandfather Harold in 1928),” said Alex. Now that is quite a legacy.
