Bexley Alumni Awards

Over the years, the alumni of Bexley High School have recognized Distinguished and Honorary Alumni. Recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award have made outstanding accomplishments and received honors or recognition for meritorious work in their chosen fields of endeavor or on behalf of their communities. Recipients of the Honorary Alumni Award are non-alumni who exhibited outstanding service on behalf of the Bexley Schools community. The Emerging Leader Award honors outstanding young alumni, who graduated from Bexley High School within the last 20 years and are on an exciting path to personal and professional achievement.

Past honorees are listed here. Nominations are accepted using an online form. The next class of honorees will be selected in 2025.  NOMINATIONS DUE MAY 1, 2025 for Fall 2025.

  • To be nominated, alumni must have distinguished themselves through professional achievement, service, and/or contributions to society. 

  • Nominees must have graduated from BHS at least 20 years ago.  

  • The award will not be presented posthumously.  

  • Previous nominations will be considered.

  • Alumni may not nominate themselves

Bexley High School Athletic Hall of Fame

The Bexley High School Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1989 to honor outstanding individuals who have contributed to sports in Bexley and is dedicated to the memory of Rebecca Ann Millard Attwood. In recognizing former Bexley High School athletes and coaches, the Athletic Hall of Fame seeks to strengthen relationships between alumni, the school and the community. The first Athletic Hall of Fame Class was inducted in 1990. The most recent class was inducted in 2022.

In order to be considered for induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame athletes must be out of high school for at least five years and coaches for at least three years. Athletes who participated in any sport and in any era are eligible to be nominated. Nominations are accepted for consideration all year long. Please include as much detail as possible for consideration. Anyone may nominate a former athlete or coach for consideration, although self nomination is discouraged. A selection committee of former athletes, coaches and previous inductees will be formed to review nominations for the Hall of Fame. Carlton Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund Award

The Carlton Smith Memorial Scholarship is dedicated in honor of beloved coach and chemistry teacher Carlton Smith. The scholarship exists to provide financial aid for higher education to worthy graduating seniors. Each year, a financial scholarship, currently $1000, is awarded to two students who excel in both athletics and scholarship.

William E. L. Young Memorial Service Award

This award was established by the Bexley High School Alumni Association in memory of William E. L. Young, class of 1934, one of the original organizers of the association and a long-time officer and trustee. This scholarship recognizes a senior student for their commitment to service of the school or in the community and is not dependent upon grade point average.
