Three longtime members of the Bexley Education Foundation Board of Governors, Betsy Farrar, Michelle Hall and Amy Wagenbrenner retired from the Board on May 18. Their outstanding service was recognized at the board meeting and each will have an engraved brick placed in the Bexley High School alumni walkway and piazza.
At the School District’s end of year recognition event held on June 1, Betsy Farrar received the Bexley Education Foundation’s Linda S. Kass Excellence in Education Award. Past recipients of the award include Linda Kass, Bob Darwin, Barbara Giller, Beth Grimes-Flood, Dr. Michael Johnson and Melissa Lacroix.
In presenting the award to Farrar, Board Chair Doug Segerman noted that, “Betsy has demonstrated exemplary support of public education in Bexley through her service to the Bexley Education Foundation serving as Board Chair, Immediate Past Chair, Treasurer, Vice Chair, Board Governance Chair as well as a member of the Grants, Endowments, Finance and Marketing Committees.” He further noted that “her leadership and expertise helped to guide the Foundation through the merger with the Bexley High School Alumni Association, the implementation of “One for All” fundraising campaign and updates to the Foundation’s Code of Regulations to reflect current practices.” Farrar and her husband Jack are parents to Bexley High School graduates, Bill Farrar, ‘12 and Meg Farrar Thornburg, ‘13.
