Support for Distance Learning

At the start of this school year, BEF made an Impact Grant that included funding for 30 Microsoft Surface tablets with built-in 4G connectivity to address the digital divide for middle school and high school students.

With the advent of COVID-19, and the subsequent closing of the schools in March, BEF purchased 20 mobile hotspots that use T-Mobile service for students needing a secure, reliable connection to participate in distance learning activities. These hotspots, the tablets purchased in the fall and the distribution of district-owned Chromebooks, is helping to address the technology challenge of Bexley students having to continue their instruction from home.

As we look to the near future and beyond, we anticipate that BEF will be called upon to provide an even bigger role in supporting all Bexley students as they navigate learning in a post-pandemic world.
