You can honor the coaching legacy of Gene Millard at Bexley and ensure the future of the Bexley Athletic Hall of Fame at the same time. Millard, who played guard on the OSU basketball team, scored the first basket at St. John Arena. At Bexley, Millard served as Athletics Director and coached for a total of 29 years (1962-87 and 1992-96). His teams won 496 games, 15 league championships and eight district titles. Bexley won the 1983 state Class AA championship. Called out of retirement to coach the Bexley girls in 1998, Millard guided them to a 19-1 record. He was inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011.
The Millard Family Bexley Athletic Hall of Fame Fund has been established at the Bexley Education Foundation. However, in order for the fund to reach the endowed level, additional gifts totaling $16,000 are needed. Once endowed the fund will provide an ongoing source of income for the Bexley High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Please consider honoring Coach Millard and Sally Millard and their incredible dedication to Bexley Athletics over the years with a gift today.
