Susan Marantz has as much fun in her Maryland elementary classroom as her students. Whether she is sharing the names of children enshrined in her Math Games Hall of Fame, chronicling the journeys of “Yoke” the traveling egg, or describing how two students recently redesigned the classroom space using SMART Notebook technology, you can sense the joy she gets from teaching. As Maryland’s Gifted Intervention Specialist, Susan has spent 11 years engaging her students in unique learning opportunities and celebrating their accomplishments.
She is also the mother of three accomplished Bexley graduates, and she attributes their preparedness for college and life to the excellent education they received in the Bexley Schools. The small size of the district, Susan believes, is also an asset that helps students develop strong connections to those invested in their success.
Supporting the BEF is another way for Susan and her husband Roger Carroll to “give back to the schools so that other children have the same opportunities as our children.” She and Roger have attended BRAVO! for many years and have made annual gifts for ten years. As loyal BEF donors, Susan and Roger think it’s important to “pay it down the line for current students and those who will follow.”
