BEF Fall 2018 Grant Awards

At its November 14 Board Meeting, the Bexley Education Foundation Board of Governors, based upon the recommendations made by its Grants Committee, approved a total of $30,240 in grant funding to support nine staff-initiated projects ranging from professional development to technology purchases.

Below is a summary of the projects that received grant funding:

$6,809 grant to Bexley Middle School World Language teachers to purchase an additional 15 iPads to support instruction and complete a classroom set for student use.

$6,465 to Bexley High School Art Teachers, Helma Groot, Mabi Ponce de Leon, and Bexley Middle School Art Teacher, Alex Jordan to fund a 9-week residency by comic book artist and CCAD graduate, Uko Smith.

$6,739 to the Bexley High School Math Department to purchase five additional laptops for Math Teachers to utilize as classroom mobile teaching tools.

$1,970 to Montrose Art Teacher, Emily Reiser to complete the framing of seven murals inspired by contemporary artist Chuck Close and created by 5th and 6th grade Montrose students to commemorate important historical and contemporary figures.

$1,800 to Intervention Specialists, Katie Roslovic, Elise Rice & Erin Mulcahey to pilot a Music Therapy program for special needs students in the three cross-categorical classrooms located at Montrose Elementary, Bexley Middle School and Bexley High School.

$1,750 to Spanish Teachers, Sherri Higgins & Lindsay Shankle to purchase Spanish language books to promote recreational/volunteer reading among Bexley Middle School and Bexley High School Spanish students.

$1,354 to Bexley High School English Teacher, Dr. Michelle Rogers to provide flexible seating options and a standing desk to supplement standard desk seating options in her classroom.

$1,400 to Ben Pinciotti, Cassingham Elementary Art Teacher to support 4th grade students learning the product-design process by creating custom shoe designs for local businesses and organizations.

$1,953 to Laura Lipsett, Bexley City Schools Executive Director of Educational Programs to purchase books and gift cards in appreciation for teachers who presented workshops at the Bexley Institute professional development day.
