BEF launches “TEXT for STEM” at BRAVO!

One hundred BRAVO! attendees pledged $4,555 in just over an hour this past Saturday at BRAVO! to support district-wide STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs and projects. They pledged by texting “STEM $[donation amount]  [donor name]” to 56412. The initiative will continue through May 31 with a goal of raising $10,000.

Anyone can make a pledge at any time using a cell phone. Proceeds from the initiative will support STEM/Lego Clubs in the elementary schools, First Lego League Teams, the high school’s Robotics Team and other STEM opportunities for students in the Bexley Schools.

BRAVO! drew a crowd of 757 parents, alumni, teachers, staff and community members  to an evening featuring tasting stations from 17 area restaurants, an auction of artwork created by Bexley students and a silent auction with over 175 items. Sponsorships exceeded all past totals at $86,000 and final fundraising results should be available by April 1. For a gallery of photos from the event, check back soon! We’ll post them on our Facebook page as well.

The Bexley Education Foundation (BEF) was founded on the belief that excellent public schools are essential to the economic and social health of the communities they serve. To that end, BEF supports educational initiatives that enhance excellence in the Bexley City Schools. To date, BEF has provided more than $4.3 million in grants to the Bexley schools.
