Spring grants awarded

Bexley elementary, middle school and high school students will benefit from $22,765 in grants approved by the BEF Board of Governors earlier this month. BEF grants are made possible through the generosity of donors to the BEF’s Annual Fund for Excellence campaign held each fall, the BRAVO! event and other fundraising initiatives.

The newly funded projects include:

Yoga and Mindfulness for Middle Schoolers – Grant funding of up to $3,165 was made to Bexley Middle School teachers Alison Nakasako and Lindsay Shankle to offer yoga as an option during a flex period that will be part of the daily schedule at Bexley Middle School starting in fall, 2018.

Teaching for Creativity Institute – This grant of $6,000 will support a professional development opportunity for Bexley teachers in any subject area interested in cultivating creativity in their classrooms. The grant will fund up to 20 Bexley teachers to attend the Teaching for Creativity Institute over a two-year period.

Studio Lighting Equipment – Grant funding of $6,600 will support the purchase of professional lighting equipment to create a photo studio for students in Bexleo. Student photographers will have the opportunity to support many school areas, departments and programs that need high quality studio photography for publications, promotions, special celebrations and recognitions, etc.
