If you glance through your scrapbook, you might
find faded pictures of Bexley High School with
a spacious lawn. Few scrapbooks still have similar
pictures. They display a charming piazza, not
replacing, but enhancing the lawn.
The
Bexley High School Piazza, dedicated in
1996, adds history, beauty, and charm to the
front lawn of Bexley High School and to the
Bexley community. This project creates a permanent
legacy for Bexley alumni and friends. Money
raised from the Piazza provides ongoing funds
to support the Classroom Grants Program, special
grants and ongoing
annual projects that enhance the quality of
the Bexley City Schools.
The
Classes of 1955, 1960, 1961, 1975, 1979, 1995
and 1996 already have purchased benches; the
Classes of 1938, 1941, 1944 and 1947 already
purchased trees. Mildred Polster Simpson
purchased the brick wall in recognition of her
Class of 1925. The math faculty at Bexley High
School has established a fund to remember math
teacher Bob Ralston with an engraved
bench, toward which faculty, friends and former
students and their parents are invited to contribute.
Numerous other classes are working toward their
commitment to leave a legacy on the Piazza.
You
can join them.
